According to the WHO (World Health Organization) the main causes of vision impairment are:

age-related macular degeneration

cataract

diabetic retinopathy

glaucoma

uncorrected refractive errors

It is also interesting to observe how there are differences among countries.

In fact, cataract is more common in low- and middle-income countries. In high-income countries, diseases such as glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration are more typical.
